Update on the Old Trails Fire Burning Near Dandles Candles
August 2 – Dandles is heartbroken for everyone in the Spokane community who has lost their homes and businesses in the Old Trails Fire. The wildfire, which started on August 1, has devastated those close to the Dandles Candles family. Flames destroyed an estimated 600 structures, including the home of one of Dandles’ treasured volunteers.
The Dandles team wants to thank all of our first responders who helped keep the fire from spreading even more. From the dispatchers, to air support, to boots on the ground, thank you for all your hard work.

As many customers know, the Dandles Candles Studio on Jedi Lane was dangerously close to the Old Trails Fire. However, our location meant we were on the boundary of the Level 3 Evacuation. While it is not our retail location, the Dandles Studio is the heart of our operation.

The Old Trails Fire started only a half mile up the highway. The attached photo shows the view outside the Dandles Studio as the fire grew.
Winds eventually took the flames northeast of our location. Dandles was spared, but many in our community were not.
Shelters have been set up in Spokane to help those displaced. Please consider supporting the American Red Cross at this time as they work to help those who have lost everything in this unprecedented Spokane County disaster.
